How Swede It Is!, WJO's fundraising Hippodrome concert for 2024 (on February 24) featured the multi-talented Gunhild Carling, "Sweden's Queen of Swing".
Gunhild is known for her boundless sense of enthusiasm and her powerful sense of swing. She repeatedly brought the packed audience to its feet
by showcasing her mastery of multiple instruments--including trumpet, trombone, piano, and bagpipes, her vocal skills and her agile tap dancing.
She also offered her trademark "shticks", playing three trumpets at once and balancing a trumpet in the air while playing acoustic bass.
The program also featured several of her compositions. WJO and our audience had so much fun with this performance
that we're bringing her back for our fundraising concert in 2025!!!
Videography by Elijah Alvarado.
